Styx and Stones (ARC) Review

Book: Styx and Stones

Author: January Foxx

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

Recently, I had the immense pleasure of being chosen to be a part of the ARC team for Styx and Stones by January Foxx, a spicy, erotic underworld / Hades x Persephone retelling. This is the debut novel for this author.

Firstly, I would like to say that this book is definitely not for everyone. And that's okay! To put it into perspective, the book literally opens with the MC attending what can only be described as an orgy party; a party where the sole intent is sex and drugs and basically any other vices you can think of. Like I said, not for everyone. But if you're intrigued, stick around, because this book was definitely for me and I have some thoughts.

Styx and Stones is a Hades and Persephone retelling. One of the first thoughts I had, though I'm not proud of it, was if the author was just jumping on the bandwagon after the success of the popular series by Scarlett St. Clair. However I'm pleased to say that it seemed like the author had a lot of knowledge, or at least had done a lot of research, about Greek Mythology. It was so fun to see all the Easter Eggs from all of the different stories of mythology. As a mythology nerd, it was great to see!

Not only were Hades and Persephone great characters, but the side characters were amazing too. I'm a sucker for great side characters they did not disappoint! Adonis was my favorite, and I have no doubt that I'm not alone in that feeling. I'd love to see more with his character in the future!

I think that this was a really fun read! It was very well done, and wasn't just about the spice, even though it's classified as erotica. I wish I could say more about the plot and conflicts and all that, but no spoilers!

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what the author does with future projects.

Check out Styx and Stones on Kindle Unlimited, and out in Paperback, on February 4, 2025!

It's worth it, I promise!
