Book: Every Thread of Light

Author: Sarah Zimm

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Every Thread of Light is the second book in the Whispers of Dust and Darkness series by Sarah Zimm. Book three has been confirmed, but title and release date information has yet to be announced.

Every Thread of Light picks up where the last book left off, our crew is completely seperated, and Ophelia just faced off with the Darkweilder and the Grey King...

Ophelia with her memories back is a force to be reckoned with, that's for sure. While I loved learning about the world alongside her, watching her pop off her knowledge was so fun. It was awesome to see her less reliant on the boys, no matter how much I love them.

I also loved getting to see each of the boys on their own. Some more than others. Falcon is such a great character, I loved learning more about him, his past, and getting to explore more cities with him. With Hart, it was nice to see him stand on his own, away from Ophelia and the army, to see who he is without them. And then there's Rune. Poor, sweet Rune. I felt so bad for him throughout this book, and I hope that he has a happier path ahead of him in the third book.

It was so interesting to see more of the Darkwielder. Obviously he had his own novella where we saw some of him backstory, but in the first book, we hardly got to see him at all, other than the voice in Ophelia's head. It was interesting to see more of him and to see him in his element. I'm not quite sure what to think of him by the end of this book. I can't decide if I'm hoping for a redemption arc, or a killer battle.

Just like with the first book, the setting and atmosphere is so beautiful, even the grimier parts of the city. Still giving tons of ACOTAR meets Six of Crows vibes. And the plot definitely has kept me guessing the whole time. There were so many plot twists that I never would have seen coming in a million years.

This series has consumed me. I cannot wait for the next book in this series to release. And while I don't want the series to end, I'm selfishy hoping that it will be the finale, because I'm not sure I can take another cliff-hanger.
